Abstract

15,203. Redfern, C. G., [Werkstõtte f³r Maschinenbau. vorm. Ducommun, and Muff, C. E.]. July 24. Motor road vehicles.-Relates to the differential gear of motor-vehicles, especially lorries or wagons, and consists in mounting the planet-wheels of the differential gear between two bevel-wheels, driven from a longitudinal shaft through two short secondary shafts, the object being to avoid uncompensated axial pressures. A gear-wheel on the driving-shaft a meshes with one of the two pinions c, which are secured to two short shafts d, each carrying a bevel-wheel e. The bevel-wheels f are rigidly connected by the sleeve i and are driven by the smaller wheels e. Bosses h on the connecting-sleeve support the planet pinions l, which drive the bevel-wheels m on the divided driving- axle g, the two parts of which are kept in line by a pin o entering a socket p. The gear is enclosed in a casing j with projections forming bearings k, s for the shafts g and the wheels f. The casing, which may contain a lubricant, is fitted with a cover r for inspection purposes.
