Abstract

Motor road vehicles.-Relates to change-speed gearing for electric automobiles, of the class in which a pair of sliding double-ended clutches are employed to look either of two pairs of loose gearwheels to their shafts. The motor shaft A carries loose pinions B, C.constantly in mesh with wheels F, G loose upon an intermediate shaft H supported by a casing R. Either gear train may be brought into driving relation by the double-ended claw clutches E, I, which slide on squared parts of the shafts A, H and are coupled together by a crosspiece O carried by an operating-lever H. A pinion K secured to the shaft H meshes with and drives a wheel L upon the differential casing S and divided axle T, T<1>. The casing R is partly supported upon the axle T, T<1>.
