Abstract

Gear-cutting; attachments for milling. - A lathe attachment for milling gear-wheels and dividing blanks consists of a rotatable spindle 12 carrying the blank 14<a> and a dividing-disk 17 and mounted in a frame 7, which is adjustable on a member 2. This member is secured to a base 1 bolted to the slide-rest either rigidly or by a pivot, and is held in any position by a bolt 25 in the slotted link 24, or by other means. In this way, the blank can be inclined for cutting bevel-gears, as shown in Fig. 2, the spindle 12 being turned after each cut of the milling-cutter 22, driven by the headstock, and held by the spring 20.
