Turning; planing; shaping; slotting.-Tool-cones or tool-posts comprise a rotatable block having an inclined face the plane of which in the normal position of the block cuts the plane of the slides in a line parallel to the axis of the piece to be machined. The tool 20, Fig. 10, is clamped in an inclined block 22 clamped to the slide by a bolt 25. In a modification, the cutting angle of the tool can be adjusted by rotating an inclined block 1, Fig. 3, mounted between the tool-post 2 and the slide. b. The base of the tool-post is parallel to the tool, and the tool-post and inclined block are clamped in the adjusted position by a sphericalheaded bolt 4. Figs. 7 and 8 show modifications in which the tool is clamped directly to the rotatable inclined block.
