Abstract

1,256,876. Work-tables. JAMES ARCHDALE & CO. Ltd. 20 March, 1969 [21 March, 1968], No. 13640/68. Heading B3B. A workpiece mounting arrangement comprises a base 16 on which is pivotably mounted a table 10 having two table surfaces 11, 12 extending in mutually intersecting planes, which may be mutually perpendicular, or acutely or obtusely inclined to each other, and symmetrical about the pivoting axis so that the two table surfaces 11, 12 can be exchanged in positions. The table 10 is pivotably mounted on a spigot 15 and is rotated manually or by a motor 19 and pinion and ring gear 20, 21. Locating device 22, 23 engages in one of two recesses 23 at the exchanged positions. Annular groove 25 and one or more manual or power operable devices 27 acting as plungers 26 allow the table 10 to be clamped at intermediate positions. The base 16 may be mounted on a rotary mounting 18 or direct on to a machine tool. The arrangement may be used to remove a finished workpiece and replace it with a new workpiece on one table surface while another workpiece is being machined on the other table, or to machine top and side faces of a workpiece with a single spindle. Also compound angles may be machined.
