Abstract

1395912 Workpiece tables GLACIER METAL CO Ltd 23 June 1972 [31 March 1971] 8312/71 Heading B3B A workpiece supporting table assembly comprises a table 1 rotatable relative to a housing 2 about an axis 3 perpendicular to the planar working surface of the table, the housing being also rotatable relative to a base about an axis 4 inclined to the table axis 3 and intersecting the said axis 3 in the said planar working surface. The assembly may be mounted adjacent a tool holding spindle 6 having an axis 7 which passes through the intersection point 8 of the axes 3 and 4. The table is rotated in the housing 2 by an hydraulically operated worm and wormwheel drive, and the housing is rotated in the base, by an hydraulically operated rack which engages a pinion gear mounted on the housing. Hydraulic braking is provided (17), (27, 26), (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown), to hold the table and housing in adjusted positions.
