Abstract

18,776. Bond, T. S. Aug. 16. By solid lubricant. Loose pulleys, sheave and other pulleys, wheels, and shaft bearings are lubricated by solidified lubricant. The pulley 1, formed with an annular chamber 3 to contain t h e lubricant, runs on a bush 6 fixed to the shaft or axle 5. Pins 7 projecting from the bush whisk or agitate the lubricant when the pulley rotates. When the bush is knocked out of the pulley, the pins 7 are sheared by the inner edge 10 of the chamber 3. When applied to the bearing of a rotating shaft, the chamber 3 is formed in the bearing and the pins 7 are fixed to the shaft itself, or a bush made in two parts may be fixed to the shaft, the connecting-lugs on the bush taking the place of the pins.
