Abstract

17,217. Eisenstein, S. July 23. [Addition to 10,019/08.] Electric oscillations, producing; spark - gap apparatus.-Relates to the method of producing high - frequency oscillations for wireless telegraphy described in the parent Specification, and in Specification 5578/09, in which a sparkless oscillation-circuit is caused to oscillate by uni-directional impulses, consisting of the first half-oscillation of a condenser circuit containing a spark-gap, subsequent oscillations being prevented by a valve-rectifier inserted in the condenser circuit. According to the present invention, the first complete oscillation of the condenser circuit is utilized by reversing the combined rectifier and spark-gap, consisting of a heated point and a cooled plate, and by so adjusting the charging-current that the first half - oscillation breaks down the valve, the second half-oscillation passes through the valve in the usual manner, and the third and following half - oscillations are unable to pass the rectifier. The hot pointed electrode g<1> is connected to the negative pole of the battery, the flat cooled electrode g<2> being connected to the positive pole, this arrangement being the reverse of that usually employed. The condenser c and inductance l complete the dischargecircuit.
