Abstract

515,903. Valve generating circuits. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE. June 15, 1938, No. 17822. Convention date, June 15, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] In a back coupled oscillator in which the rate of flow through a grid controlled electron discharge valve is periodically changed by negatively charging a condenser in the grid circuit through a rectifier and an inductance reactively coupled with the valve anode, a further rectifier is connected in parallel with the condenser to ensure that the condenser is always charged to the same potential. The condenser 11 is charged slowly from battery 13 through resistance 14 and anode current flows at a slowly increasing rate. When a synchronizing pulse is received on an additional grid of valve 10 or when the voltage across the condenser exceeds that across coil 12 the condenser 11 and the whole of the magnetic energy of coil 16 discharges rapidly through rectifier 15 so that condenser 11 is charged in the opposite sense, and the condenser charge is then again built up slowly from battery 13 for the cycle to repeat. Rectifier 18 and battery 19 ensure that the negative voltage on condenser 11 is always the same and equals the steady voltage of battery 19. A saw tooth potential is produced across condenser 11 and a saw tooth current flows in coil 16 which may be a deflecting coil of a cathode-ray tube. Specification 461,325 is referred to.
