14,707. G÷delmann, N. June 23. Mantles; mantle supports.-Relates to means for securing incandescent gas mantles to their supports without tying, and also to the construction of the support. A fire-clay ring B, Fig. 2, is placed in the mouth of the mantle A, which has not yet been closed, so that the mantle is reversed. An asbestos band D is passed over the mantle, and rests on a ridge b<2>. The mantle A is then turned down and closed. The usual lugs b<1> on the ring B have their vertical parts b<3> set back as shown, so as to enable the band D to be passed over them. Projectiona b<4> may be provided to keep the ring D in place. The construction illustrated by Fig. 5 is used when the mantle to be attached has already been closed. The ring B is formed with three lugs b<5> on its lower edge, and the band D rests on them. The same means for supporting are applied to upright mantles.
