Abstract

Feeding webs.-In a machine for linenizing paper, in which the rolls are covered with endless or seamless bands of linen which are tight on the rolls, levers, springs, or other appliances w, w<1>, and w<2> give the desired pressure. When there is no paper passing between the rollers the upper roll may be lifted by hand-operated levers x, or automatically by means of a roller r, which, when the paper fails, drops and operates a valve to admit steam to a cylinder v the piston of which operates the lifting- mechanism. Mechanical or electrical means may be adopted for the same purpose.
