2508. Vaniman, M. Feb. 11, 1908, [Convention date]. Shelters for housing air-ships and balloons. - A portable and dismountable shed, applicable as a permanent shelter for housing dirigible balloons, comprises a framework of metal composed of a column a, a small upright b, and a number of larger interchangeable uprights c, connected together by interchangeable lengths of girders d, e, f and beams g. The structure is secured to the ground by guy ropes k, provided with tensioning-devices l and connected to ground anchors m consisting of plates driven obliquely into the ground. The structure is covered with canvas, two sheets serving to cover the sides and the rear; a third sheet j forms a door constituting the entranca to the shed, and is firmly held to hooks n, which engage the eyelets in the sheets, by a cable passed through the hooks to prevent them from being disengaged from the eyelets. Further to secure the sheets of canvas against wind action, they are provide with inner sheaths o through which cables p, connected to the uprights, are passed.
