Abstract

862,350. Pile driving. PRE-STRESSED CONCRETE CO. Ltd. Dec. 18, 1959 [Jan. 7, 1959], No. 664/59. Addition to 835,804. Class 68(2). The invention described in the parent Specification is modified by the addition of guide means which extend from the helicopter to the ground or to a position adjacent the ground. Fig. I shows nylon guide ropes 2 extending from a helicopter 1 to a frame 9 secured to a jeep 10. The foundation blocks 3 and 4 are projected downwards by three rockets 7 and are connected by a light framework 5 which includes in each arm a ring 6 which slides along one of the guide ropes. The framework disintegrates on impact. In the case of a single foundation block 29 (Fig. 7) only one rope need be used, which passes through the block and is secured to the ground by a peg. In this case either the hole in the block is large enough for the peg to pass through, or the peg is made of a material which shatters when it is struck. The block may be fitted with rollers 31. Alternatively (Fig. 8) a single block is fitted with arms 34 terminating in eyelets 35 which slide along guide ropes 36.
