Abstract

22,843. Dawson, A. T., and Buckham, G. T. Oct. 27. Ordnance breech mechanism; loading-appliances.- Consists in the combination of several known elements in one breech mechanism. The breech-screw C of the " Vickers " type is rotated by a crank-pin e' engaging in a cam-groove C' in an arm on the breech-screw in the manner described in Specification No. 15,975, A.D. 1902. A combined electric and percussion firing-mechanism is carried by a sliding-lock G actuated by a link G<3> connected at e to the toothed sector E of the breech-actuating mechanism as described in Specification No. 21,922, A.D. 1908, the percussion striker being released by a firing-lever of the kind described in Specification No. 6654, A.D. 1908. A spring-plunger bolt c of known construction is employed to lock the breechscrew to the carrier when it is swung away from the breech face. A combined extractor-ejector mechanism of the kind described in Specification No. 21,930, A.D. 1908, is provided, and also a case and shot guide L of known construction.
