8280. Petch, A. F., and Redpath, R. April 5. Ordnance breech mechanism.-The firing-lever a is pivoted at c to a lever d which is pivoted at e to a fixed part f of the gun mounting. The lever d is connected by a rod h to the guard-plate g, and the lever a by a rod l to a link k, also carried by the guard-plate. A projection m on the spring-controlled link k co-acts with the trigger n to actuate the percussion lock at all elevations of the gun. The movements of the lever a may be controlled by a cam, instead of by the rod h.
