Couplings.-Metallic continuity is ensured in slipsocket conduit systems by forming a lug on one member of a joint, and providiog means on the other member for gripping the lug. The lug may be formed transversely on the conduit a, as shown in Figs. 1 and 8, or longitudinally, as shown in Figs. 3, 4, and 6, and may be held by a transverse screw f, as shown in Fig. 1, or by a screw in a projection h, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, or by means of a separate ring-stirrup fitting m provided with a screw f, as shown in Figs. 6 and 8. A hole or depression should be formed in the socket part opposite the point of the screw f, and, instead of using a screw with the stirrup-ring fitting, the said fitting may be tapered so as to secure the lug by a wedge action.
