Abstract

5240. Joel, H. F. April 7. Bolts.-Two pipes or conduits P, Fig. 1, are connected by means of a split socket A of pliable metal having adjacent lugs L, l which can be brought together or separated by means of a screw of known construction having an ordinary head S and an intermediate flange s, the flange s being positioned between the lugs L, l, and the lug L being slotted at B for the entry of the portion of the screw lying between the head S and flange s. The screw may be employed for making butt joints with flanged pipes, or, as shown in Fig. 6, between an inspection or like box F and the cover E, in which cases, one or other of the abutting flanges is provided with a countersunk hole in order to accommodate the flange s when the joint is made. According to the Provisional Specification, the screw may be used in connexion with separate hand clips or clamps.
