Abstract
17,333. Cairns, W., and Steel, J. Dec. 10. Junction boxes.-A joint box for armoured electric cables comprises a central tubular body, removable end members, and means for securing the ends of the armour to the inside of the end members. In the construction shown in Figs. 3 and 4, one of the end members c is made in two separate parts c<1>, c<2> secured together by bolts c<3>, both end members being held against the tubular body a by bolts d. The cable armour is secured against inclined surfaces j of the end members by clamping-members h secured to the end members by bolts k. To ensure a water-tight joint, molten pitch or bitumen is introduced into the annular grooves l in the end members.
