Junction boxes for joining the ends of two cables are constructed so that the cables may move relatively longitudinally, and may also rotate as they expand. The junction box is in two parts, a, b, each secured to a cable by a plumbed joint e screwed into the box end. One part a telescopes within the other b, and a packing gland f is provided in the outer one b. The armouring is bonded by plates p which are con. nected by a conductor l.
