Abstract

177,304. Cox, F. Jan. 18, 1921. Junction &c. boxes; couplings.-Junction-boxes are provided with means whereby armoured cables having a single lay of wire armouring and conducting cores laid up in the same direction may be jointed without cutting the armouring or the cores. The cable is twisted to straighten the armouring and cores and the former is then opened, divided, and passed into slots H in the sides of the junction-box G, plates D being secured by screws E so as to cover the slots and grip the armour wires. In a modification, the armour wires are secured by screws and plates to a clamp which is then secured by screws and plates to a clamp which is then secured in the box. According to the Provisional Specification a number of such cables, may be similarly connected to the same box.
