Abstract
10,943. Brown, R. May 10. Couplings.-A. wedge gripping action is obtained with an electric plug coupling of the bayonet-joint type. On the end of one cable 1, Fig. 1, is mounted a housing 2, in which a socket 3 is provided to receive a plug 4, Fig. 2, on the end of the other cable. The housing has a sleeve 6 on which is a flange 7 gapped at intervals 8. The second cable 5 carries a disk 10, provided with a number. of claw grips 11 which are passed through the gaps 8. When the cable is rotated, the grips ride up over the inclined inner surfaces 9 of the parts of the flange thereby effecting a tight joint. To avoid twisting the cable, the disk 10 may be loose on the cable 5.
