Joints with yielding outer part compressed.- The bared end of an armoured hose pipe a is pushed on to a spigot b of a coupling member s and is retained thereon by being gripped between a shoulder b<1> on the spigot and a groove c<6> in a two-part external clamping member c, c'. The two members c, c<1> are held together by four bolts d which pass through bored ears c<2>, c<3> on the said members, and the latter are also provided with coacting lugs and gaps c<4>, c<5> which facilitate correct registration of the two parts, The clamping member is retained on the coupling member by claws c<10> adapted to engage behind a flange b<2> on the spigot b, while the internal surface thereof is provided with a series of grooves c<7>, c<8> and a radial hole c<9> to receive the end of the armouring wire a<1>. The invention is also described in connection with a double-spigotted coupling member.
