Electric railways and tramways; conductors.-Ears for carrying overhead electric-transmission lines are made in two halves so arranged that on screwing in the insulator stem the two h a l v e s are forced together so as to grip the conductor. The two halves A, B are made with claw-shaped edges C which grip the conductor D, and one is made with a ring flange F, through which the insulator bolt E passes with clearance to screw into the lug G on the other half. The two halves thus turn one on the other with the rabbeted portion H as a fulcrum, and, as shown in Fig. 2, when the ears are long, the ends can be made to interlock at the wedges and sockets K, L, or, instead of such wedges and sockets, screw studs may be used to hold the ends together.
