18,255. Kleinsteuber, F. G. Aug. 14. Electric railways and tramways.-Section insulators for overhead electric conductors are constructed with angle-pieces a, to which the current cables are fixed by clamps c, and the trolly sections d by the means shown. The inner bridge-pieces e and the intermediate piece f are shaped as shown in Fig. 3, so as to afford a uniform surface for the collector and yet be spaced so far apart as to prevent sparking. The connecting-insulators g, h are carried on the intermediate piece f, which is itself supported by arms projecting on either side. To secure slight flexibility, elastic disks n of cork, rubber, or the like, bearing on metallic disks m, are carried on the angle-pieces a and are adjusted by bolts o, which also carry anchor wires s connecting the pieces a to the conductor beyond the end d. For very high voltages, the gap may be arranged as shown m Figs. 4 and 5, the bottom of the intermediate piece q being made of wood u, and the Y-shaped end pieces e being provided with the arc blow-out horns t.
