Abstract
23,703. Copeland, W. Nov. 5. Insulators are formed with an insulating-body C, and a cap K which is made of wrought iron, brass, bronze, copper, or like metal when there is a possibility of its being injured by stone-throwing ; otherwise it may be made of pot or porcelain. The two parts are held together by means independent of the supporting-screw A; as shown in Fig. 1, this is done by the screwed stud H, I to which a shoulder J is fixed, the shoulder bearing on the insulator through a rubber or like washer L. The cap is formed with two longitudinal slots therein which allow the conductor F to be passed up to the top of the insulator C so that it may be gripped in the groove E in the insulator when the latter is screwed into the cap. In a modification the stud I has one end only and screws through the cap K.
