Abstract

28,632. Waterhouse, L. M., and Simplex Steel Conduit Co. Dec. 30. Conduits.-In metallic conduits, more particularly of the " Simplex " type, for electric light cables and the like, in which it is desired to maintain a metallic circuit throughout, the bushing A, Fig. 1, split from end to end by one cut d, or with two or more cuts d<1>, Fig. 4, extending along the plain part only, embraces the conduit B, and is connected by the screwed part a<1> to the coupling or other fitting C, the internal diameter of which is equal to that of the conduit. The part a<3>, between the plain and screwed parts of the bushing, is made conical in shape, while the interior of the plain part may be made slightly conical in the reverse direction. To increase the compressing action, part of the screw-thread may be cut away as at e, Fig. 4, or the screwed part may be tapered. The enamel, with which the conduit is covered, is previously removed from the part which comes into contact with the bushing.
