4525. Longbottom, H. H., and Farrar, T., [trading as Steel Tubes and Conduits Co.]. Feb. 21. Couplings.-Relates to jointing-devices for metallic conduits carrying electric conductors, of the kind wherein the joint is effected by a plain split sleeve fitting over the end of the conduit and inside the junction-piece, inspection-box, &c., to which the conduit is to be connected. According to the invention, the sleeve a, which is preferably tapered, is provided with an inwardly - extending flange a<1> against which the end of the conduit b abuts, thereby limiting its inward movement within the sleeve. Instead of the sleeve being tapered, it may be cylindrical and the inner surface of the junction-piece c of tapering form so as to afford the necessary gripping action. The outer end of the sleeve may be provided with an outwardly-extending flange a<2> to limit the movement of the sleeve within the junctionpiece &c.
