Abstract

3479. Railing, M. J., and Taylor, T. Feb. 12. Overlap joints with slotted or divided socket or sleeve.-Electric continuity is secured in metallic conduits by means of a circular clip a provided with lugs b for a tightening-bolt c and having inwardlybent teeth d, which cut through the enamel into the metal when the bolt c is screwed up. To make the fitting capable of connecting two pipes of different diameter, such as a spigot and socket, one set of teeth may be made longer than the other, and by splaying the teeth inwards towards one another they can be made to spring somewhat and adapt themselves to the surfaces to 118 gripped. Lugs b<1> prevent the nut from turning when the clip is being fastened, and inwardly-pressed lugs g serve as stops to limit the space by which the clip overlaps a tube.
