Abstract

A pipe coupling for coupling copper pipes for example by soldering, is provided with a connection for attachment of an earth wire. <IMAGE>

Description

SARAH BINDING PIPE FITTING.
Technical Field.
This invention relates to a copper pipe coupling with the facility to connect an earth bonding clamp to it.
Background.
During recent years it has become necessary to "bond" pipework within bathrooms and kitchens to comply with statutory regulations concerning earthing of electrical systems. Until now it has been normal practice to secure unsightly clamps to pipework and then secure cables to the clamps. Because the plumber has to use a straight coupling to connect any pipework to an appliance by using a fitting with an integral clamp this would give a much neater, more secure and cheaper way to carry out the job.
E < sentxal Technical Features.
The fitting complies with the latest requirements and gives a "definateTt securing point for earth bonding.
Example.
Fig.l shows the fitting with the clamp attached. Note the clamp would be "brazed" to the fitting and would not be affected by the normal soldering temperatures used by a plumbers blow torch.
Fig.2 shows the fitting attached to a 15mm radiator pipe and ready in position for an electrician to complete the bonding process.
Summary.
The fitting could be manufactured and sold in the normal manner through plumbers merchants to cover a wide range of the building industry. Due to its simplicity the fitting could be made in any of the normal pipe sizes.

Claims (4)

1. Earthbond is a pipe connector with attachment for earth wire.
2. Earthbond as claimed in Claim 1 where a wire may be attached by means of bolting to.
3. Earthbond as claimed in Claims 1 and 2 can be attached to pipes by normal soldering methods.
4. Earthbond substantially as described herin with reference to Claims 1-3 and figure 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawing.
CLAIMS The pipe fitting described is to earth electrical wiring to copper pipework only and not electrical conduit.
