Abstract

963. Pickles, T., and Pickles, J. Jan. 15. Embossing fabrics.-In apparatus for schreinering fabrics, the fibre or back-surface roller is given a higher peripheral speed than the schreiner or engraved roller, to produce a superior lustre on the fabric, by an arrangement in which a worm and wheel is employed to drive the fibre roller. A shaft d, driven from belt pulleys e, drives the schreiner b through a pinion f and spur-wheel g, and the fibre roller c through gearing h, k ... p, a worm s on the worm shaft r, and a worm-wheel t. The increased speed of the roller c tends to feed forward the fabric, so that the stretching caused by the embossing is reduced.
