Abstract
14,644. Butty, W., and Tomlinsons, Ltd. July 17. Pile or nap, raising.-The withdrawing-rollers a, b of the raising-cylinder A consist of disks revolving on shafts e, e<1> and carrying a series of loosely mounted baize or like covered rollers c. The countershaft f is driven by belt gearing from the main shaft h, and transmits motion by toothed gearing o, p to the shaft e<1> and by bevelgearing i, k and worm gearing m, n, n' to the shaft e. The shafts e, h are driven in the same direction and the shaft e<1> in a direction opposite to this. The roller b is driven at a much higher speed than the cylinder A. The fabric passes from the roller b to a similarly constructed roller q, which is driven in the same direction, by gearing s, r, s<1>.
