Pile, raising and dressing. - A crossbrushing machine is provided with circular brushes which are given a simultaneous rotary and continuous traversing motion, for which purpose series of brushes L are mounted upon shafts K carried in the links of chains E connecting chain-wheels D driven by bevel-gearing from the shaft G. Pinions M, mounted upon one end of the shafts K, gear into a rack N or into a fixed or oppositely travelling chain, and rotate the brushes. Tension rollers P and guide rollers R present the cloth to the brushes, and are mounted upon adjustable swinging frames S.
