4090. Klug, P. Feb. 27. Feeding -apparatus for webs.-Relates to the driving, by change gear with friction or conepulley gearing introduced, of the conveying-rollers of machines for carding fabrics and of other machines. The feed-roller 1 is driven by means of toothed wheels 7, 6, 5 from the stepped pulley 4, which is connected by a belt to a stepped pulley on the drum. Chain-and-sprocket gearing 8, 9 conveys the motion to a cone pulley 10, and, by shifting the belt b, the speed transmitted by the cone pulley 11 and toothed wheels 12, 13, 14 to the drawing - off roller 2 can be varied. Another arrangement, very similar, is also described, in which use is made of two conical pulleys with a loose friction belt or ring between them. Expansion pulleys may be used for cone pulleys.
