Belt gearing.- In apparatus for driving the weftstraightening device used in connexion with tentering -machines, a shaft mounted in bearings 4, carries a double clutch 1 operated by a fork 2, a key enabling the clutch to be moved along the shaft. The bearings 4 also carry pulleys 6, 7, coned inside their flanges to fit cones on the clutch. The pulleys are grooved, and they carry an endless band 8 which passes round the jockey pulley 9 and driving-pulley 10 operated by the shaft 11. The band also passes over the guidepulley 12. The jockey-pulley 9 is carried on an adjustable cross-bar 13. The clutch shaft 3 is connected to the weft-straightening device through bevel-gearing 16 and a shaft consisting of two rigid parts 17 and a jointed part 18, or a flexible shaft may be employed. By shifting over the clutch 1, the weft-straightening device may be run in either direction as desired.
