Abstract
11,594. Edmeston, C., and Edmeston, A. May 17, Stretching.-Relates to cloth-stretching machines of the endless-belt grip type and consists in providing means for adjusting the distance between the belts at the entrance side without altering the distance at the delivery side and without stopping the machine. The distance between the grip pulleys c<1>, c<2> at the entrance side is controlled by a right and left hand screw a, with which work bolts a<1> on the pulley frames a<3>; and the screw a is lengthened to carry pulleys d, d', which are connected to pulleys e, e<1> by open and crossed belts. The pulleys e, e<1> are actuated by a double clutch e<2> on a driven shaft g, being made active as required by contact with a leather washer between the pulleys and the clutch, which is moved in either direction by a double treadle f. The screw a may thus be moved in either direction. The gripping-belts b pass over and under guidepulleys c; a guide k, mounted on each of the carrier frames a<3> in line with the outside edge of the belt, is moved with the belt grip as this is controlled, to enable the operator to note in which direction adjustment is required to suit the width of the cloth.
