7601. Calvert, J. H. March 30. Driving-mechanism.- Relates to a two-speed combined belt and chain gear employing a double friction clutch suitable for motor-cycles. A sleeve B fixed to the engine shaft A is enveloped by a sliding sleeve E which carries a double cone clutch member F. A loose driving belt-pulley G and a loose driving chain-sprocket K are kept apart by a distance-ring L and are supported laterally by a flange H on the sleeve B and by pins C passing through slots in the sleeve E into the sleeve B. The pulley G and sprocket-wheel K are adapted to transmit high and low speeds when their internal friction surfaces J, M, respectively, are gripped by the member F.
