Carding-engines. - In carding- engines for wool, a revolving equalizing roller g, Fig. 1, which has also imparted to it an axial reciprocating motion, is arranged to work upon the taker-in b. The roller g, which has carding-surfaces, is driven by a belt k and wheel i from the machine drive. A worm l, Fig. 3, is mounted upon the roller spindle and gears with a worm-wheel m carrying an adjustable crank-pin o, which runs in a slot in a piece p fixed to the frame. The carding- surfaces on the roller g are not placed close together, and may be arranged in a spiral or in axial tufts, or in rings.
