Tyres, elastic other than pneumatic.-A tyre of rope 4, Fig. 1, or india-rubber or rope and indiarubber side by side is mounted upon a wooden base 2 and held between segmental plates 6, which can be moved inwardly. The plates 6 are secured by rings 9 connected by bolts 8 passing between the recessed ends 7, Fig. 2, of the plates. The ropes are secured in place by barbed staples. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the rubber tyre is central, but it may be replaced by a rope tyre with outer rubber tyres. In a modification, rope tyres only are secured side by side to a bed of wood in a channel rim, and in this form a circumferential rubber strip may be interposed between the wood and rope.
