Abstract
18,734. Baird. W. J., and Hargreaves, J. E. Sept. 16. Tyres, pneumatic.-A series of inflated or inflatable rubber segments 1 are each provided with beads 1<a>, adapted to engage the rim 2, and with shoulders 1 to receive clamping-frames 3, formed with lugs 3<a>, by which they are pivoted on through bolts 5 to clips 4 having a hinged portion 4<a> to facilitate assemblage. The tread may consist of ribbed or studded plates 6, similarly hinged together round the wheel by cross bolts 7 and lugs 6<a> ; or the tread segments may be dovetailed &c. to the rubber and secured by vulcanization.
