Spring wheels; tyres, elastic other than pneumatic. -Relates to that class of spring wheel provided with an arrangement of side plates on the felloe formed with inturned flanges which engage flanges on a tyre supported by a floating spring band within the rim. The tyre is composed of short sections 1, Figs. 4 and 5, formed with lateral grooves 4 and flanges 5, placed end to end and strung upon a rubber cord 8, Fig. 2. The sections may be made of wood or fibre, but preferably are of rubber 3, Fig. 5, incorporated with canvas 2 which has been treated to prevent dry rot. The sections are pressed together and vulcanized. The tyre is pressed outwardly against the flanges 16 of the side plates 14 by a single or laminated spring band 9, and resilient buffers 13 are supported by the felloe 12.
