Abstract

11,538. Cuthbert, H. E. May 17. Baskets &c.-To enable chip, wood, willow, paper, or cardboard baskets and other light packages for containing fruit &c. to be nested, they are provided with handles hinged to one side of the basket, the free end of the handle being attached when the baskets are filled. The handle, made of wire or tin, is attached by staples F, Fig. 6, formed by a piece of wire E passed round the basket to strengthen the same. The handle may have at one or both ends a tapered tongue A, Figs. 1 and 3, which is bent round upon itself and passed through a slot B ; or it may be made as shown in Fig. 2, in which case the end H of the handle is stitched to one side of the basket through perforations G, and the wire E is passed round the other side to form a staple F for securing the free end K.
