Belt forks, operating.-Consists of mechanism for preventing the stripping door of the main cylinder of a carding-engine from being opened until the cylinder has come to a dea d stop, and for preventing the carding- engine from being restarted until the stripping door has been closed. The door is fastened by a catch 13, pivoted on a lever 11 which is pivoted at 12 and provided with a pin 10 sliding in a diagonal slot 9 in a sliding bar 6, the opposite end of which has a finger or stud 14 engaging inclined projections or cams 15 on the inside of the fast pulley on the main cylinder shaft. A pin 17 on the catch 13 engages by its rounded end a shallow hole in the main cylinder casing and prevents the catch 13 from being withdrawn by hand. A right-angled extension of the lever 4 connected by a link 5 to an arm j, on which the door is mounted, prevents the belt from being moved on to the fast pulley when the door is open.
