Guards, controlling.-In a door-locking device for carding-engines of the kind described in Specification 9433/08, the loose ring a, Fig. 6, at the back of the fast pulley is formed with gaps b provided with filling-pieces c, which are normally pressed forward by springs e to lie flush with the surface of the ring. A shaft j, Fig. 4, is mounted in a bracket m and carries an arm n having a jawed bracket o, which embraces the sliding bar f connected to the door arm. This bracket o is adapted, when the cylinder is at rest and the loose ring turned into position, and when the shaft j is rocked to act upon the filling-piece c and depress it, so that the projection h on the bar f can pass the ring as the door is opened. The filling-piece c closes up the ring when the projection has passed. The ring is provided with a flange r, by which it can be readily turned. The filling- pieces are guided by a pin d and projections c<1> at the ends engaging corresponding recesses in the ring a.
