Cranes; hoists; lifts.-In'plug, cocks for use in hydraulic machinery such as cranes, lifts, hoists, &c., in order to obviate the pressure on one side of the plug when the plug is closed, the inlet passage to the valve is closed by a ball valve a, as shown in Fig. 1. When the valve is opened, a cam b on the spindle, acting through a looselyfitting rod c, pushes back the ball valve a from the seating h and opens the inlet passage. The valve a is guided by ribs g, and is forced against stops i in the open position. Fluid exhausts from the crane &c. through the passage f when the plug is closed.
