Abstract

20,370. Judge, J. Oct. 9. Self-closing valves; lift valves.-In order to prevent shock in closing, a screw-down valve d, Fig. 1, is combined by means of a common shaft h having a sliding-part g, with a disk valve e so that as the valve d closes the flow is gradually checked. The valve e never closes entirely. The operating- lever is weighted at j, so as to assist the fluid pressure in closing the valve. In a modification, Fig. 5, the valve may be locked in the open position as shown. On release of a lever n, the pressure of the fluid automatically closes the valve,
