Abstract

12,979. Deakin, T., and Deahin, C. H. June 5. Rotary &c. boilers having compound fire and water tubes as described in Specification No. 9628, A.D. 1901. Fig. 1 shows a rotary boiler suitable for marine purposes. Concentric water spaces k, l are connected by water-tubes h, which are transversed by smoke-tubes i. These extend through both the water spaces as shown. The ends of the boiler are formed by suitable chambers fitted with ordinary smoke-tubes. The arrows show the course of the furnace gases. Fig. 5 shows one form of stationary boiler with concentric water spaces k, l having domed tops. They communicate through ports 6, 7 with a central water space f opening above into a steam drum d. If desired, flat water chambers connected by compound tubes may be fitted directly over the furnace and below the spaces k, l. In another modification, the tubes are arranged diagonally and connected to plates which form water.and flue spaces alternately.
