14,861. Lake, H. H., [Blye, H. C.]. July 19. Capsule closures. -Relates to the type of closure described in Specification No. 18,963, A.D. 1904. A packing-ring 15 is held between the flanges 18, 19 of the cap, and the flange 23 of. a preferably split locking-ring 16. The top flange 22 of the locking-ring is then bent down upon the flange 18 of the cap, and a vertical pressure is exerted on the parts 22, 23, the result being that the packing - ring is compressed against, and partly below, the shoulder 12 on the bottle. The ring 16 is preferably formed with a depending flange 24, to prevent the packing- ring from being severed by the raw edge which would otherwise be left on the flange 23.
