25,596. Wood, A. A. Nov. 24. Stoppers; capsules, bottle.-Relates to a sealing- device for bottles having necks of various sizes, with projecting shoulders formed thereon. A metallic cap is formed of the shape shown in section in Fig. 1, consisting of a crown 3, annular projection 10, vertical flange 5, and a gasket or packing-ring 7. The annular projection 10 of the cap rests on the lip of the bottle, and the portion of the cap. other than the crown 3, is forced into contact with the bottle neck and turned under the shoulder 2 as shown in Fig. 3. The lower portion of the flange of the cap is flared as shown in Fig. 1, to facilitate the introduction of the gasket, which has to be compressed slightly to be placed in position in the cap.
