Abstract

15,000. Kaufman, A. G. March 29, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Capsule closures &c.-A seal for bottles consists of a metal cap 8 preferably of aluminium, and a gasket 16 of rubber or the like, mounted within a seat 12 in the cap. Before the cap is applied, the central part 10 is concave and the skirt 15 depends from the annular step 14. When the cap is applied, the presser block of the capping-tool flattens the central part 10, and the skirt 15 is spun under the locking shoulder 18 of the bottle, causing the step 14 to be formed into a rib 19 as shown in Fig. 2. The part 11 being brought into close contact With the lip of the bottle cuts off the contents of the bottle from contact with the gasket. To make the seal easily removable, a lip 21, on one side of which is a slot 22, enables the metal to be torn along the line 23. The central part 10 may be strengthened by ribs.
