Elastic-fluid turbines.-In outward-flow radial steam turbines, comprising oppositely-revoluble walls or disks arranged face to face so that the blades of one disk serve as guides-blades for the other, the space between the disks is made to increase at a compound rate, and one of the disks is provided with a central steam chest communicating with the hollow shaft. The vanes are disposed as shown in Fig. 9, and may be attached as shown in Fig. 10. The steam receptacle 6, attached to one of the wheels, has a concavo-convex bead 7 and a peripheral series of approximately-tangential passages 8 leading to the blades. Several forms of cross-section are described, one of which is shown in Fig. 8. Specification No. 5022, A.D. 1879, is referred to.
